The Big Meet, Durham

This composition shows the Procession of Banners, with attendant bands and audience on their way to the Blessing of Banners at Durham Cathedral, as part of the Durham Miners' Gala. The Gala is associated with the coal mining heritage, particularly that of miners' trade unionism) of the Durham Coalfield, which stretched throughout the traditional County of Durham.

While my images are based on photographs, the artwork is much more than a photograph. I combine multiple photographs of a scene, which I then blend together in such a way as to pull out and combine aspects of the main subject, overall scene, detail, audience interaction, etc to share the true feel and essence of what I see. I only make use of what was there at the time.

The artwork is strictly limited to a run of 25, assuring you of rare wall-art wherever it is displayed. It is numbered and signed by the photographer and is accompanied by an embossed, signed letter of authenticity, with the limited-edition sequence number of the piece, along with a copy of the artwork.

I print on beautiful Fine Art paper, using archival inks.

NOTE: other finishes may be available on request - contact me in this regard before placing your order.
